In many cultures, polished black stones were believed to reveal visions when gazed into—mirrors to the past, present, or future. This inky black onyx pendant is so finely polished, it could serve as your own miniature scrying mirror.
But in the Victorian era, such pieces were more about remembrance than divination. After Prince Albert’s death in 1861, Queen Victoria popularized mourning jewelry, and onyx became a symbol of grief and devotion.
This pendant, however, feels just as suited for honoring the present. Crafted from a single piece of black onyx, it features a dimensional forget-me-not flower set with hand-cut rose cut diamonds. In Victorian floriography, forget-me-nots symbolized remembrance, true love, and fidelity.
A large bail makes it easy to wear with many chain sizes, and the backing is beautifully finished in sterling silver with a 14k gold bail.
